Love Your Enemies

 Morning musing August 23, 2018

Thanks be to God!

Sure it isn't so hard to LOVE YOUR ENEMIES in theory, but what about in practice?

What about when your enemy plays word games with you, seeks you out, hotly pursues you, subtly seeks to frame you, bears false witness against you, seeks to catch you in your words. What about when your enemy pushes you, publicly humiliates, spits in your face, slaps you, whips you, mocks you, rips out your hair, takes away your clothes......

..........................??????.........and nails you to a tree?

Ask Christ, what did He do?

HE ENDURED ALL THIS FOR YOU HIS ENEMY that you might consider the greatness of His love and turn from your wicked ways. And follow in His footsteps.
Love your enemies in word & deed. For in doing so you may save a sinner like yourself. Amen.

Many Holy Women of Old practiced loving their enemies even as they were wickedly tortured by them. You can read many testimonies of men and women alike who died while loving their enemies in the book called Martyr's Mirror. I have a link to the online copy of this book under "Study Tools" at the right hand side of the blog posts. You can also walk like Christ and be a testimony yourself of loving those who do not love you.
